Evaluation
Considering a short amount of time to work in, we're quite pleased with our work. We've tried to work in the style of Dogme 95 but we sound that it was quite a challenge to do as the same emotional intensity cannot be conveyed in such a short clip, we had to use non-diegetic sounds to make the film more effective. Nonetheless, we are very proud with our collection of clips. The colours and the effect of natural lighting makes them beautiful as the colours stands out and the warm glow it gives in some of our scenes are just perfect.
However, we have recognized our errors and here I discuss and them and what we would do if we were to remake this text again.
However, we have recognized our errors and here I discuss and them and what we would do if we were to remake this text again.
- Flashbacks and the role of the younger brother- If we could re-film the flash backs again, we would use a younger actor to play the role of the younger brother in the flashbacks. We found that since Billy looked no different to the "present day" and flash backs, it was difficult to distinguish the flashback at times. We believe that if we were able to work with a younger actor whom resembled to Billy and Josh a lot, our text would have been more effective- especially the flashbacks.
- Grave stone- The misc-en-scene in the graveyard scene was a massive flop. We were in a rush and so we had very little time to sort this out, but if we were to re-film this scene again; we would definitely go on location hunting more to find the perfect place to film. Find a newer gravestone as the ones in the clips looks too old. It looked as though Billy's character was visiting his grandpa, instead of his brother...
- Perhaps insert some dialogue- We would definitely like to use sounds more creatively next time, though the sounds in our text in my opinion worked well. I would like to develop our skills by using sounds more creatively next time.
... And those are our top 3 main criticisms of our work. We hope to be able to tackle these challenges on our next project!
